Ticket 14 – EIGRP Passive Interface

April 23rd, 2018 in TSHOOT v2 Go to comments

the neighborship between R4 and DSW1 wasn’t establised. Client 1 can’t ping R4
Configuration on R4:
router eigrp 10
  passive-interface default
  redistribute ospf 1 route-map OSPF->EIGRP
  default-metric 10000 100 255 1 10000
  no auto-summary

Answer 1) R4
Answer 2) IPv4 EIGRP Routing
Answer 3)  enter no passive interface for interfaces connected to DSW1 under EIGRP process (or in Interface f0/1 and f0/0, something like this)

Note: There is a loopback interface on this device which has an IP address of so we have to include the “network” command.

* Just for your information, in fact Clients 1 & 2 in this ticket CANNOT receive IP addresses from DHCP Server because DSW1 cannot reach (an loopback interface on R4) because of the “passive-interface default” command. But in the exam you will see that Clients 1 & 2 can still get their IP addresses! It is a bug in the exam.

    yes ,
    passive-interface default
this command doesn’t allow any interface to participate in eigrp process,
so neighbor relationship will not be established,
so we should remove it under eigrp.
or add another command that enable eigrp process on specific interface which i want to participate in eigrp process..
    the command>>no passive-interface fa 0/0 .

The 642-832 TSHOOT Topology made available by cisco on the PDF is not the same as their online Topology demo. Could someone please confirm the actually topology used in the real exam?

    Hi mils

exam is just so easy , no need to change the configurations , you have to discover where is the problem (in which device i mean) , and to which technology it belongs i.e “EIGRP , OSPF , BGP , HSRP , VLANs … etc ” , and what to do to solve the problem (i mean the problem itself)

in each ticket you will find only such a questions .

    good luck :)

TSHOOT student guide Vol1 and Vol2
TSHOOT lab guide has some useful details as well
To freshen up on details of the different technologies, student guides for SWITCH and ROUTE are recommended
I also checked on the TSHOOT e-Learning CD, but found it not all that helpful
Didn’t like the “official exam preparation guide” either..

I believe the best preparation is to build the exam topology and play around with the different TTs shown on this side, check on the output of the different show commands and understand why what is shown where (for instance which routes u should see learned how on the different routers).

I did build my environment with some real switches, routers simulated in dynamips/GNS3 and servers in VMWare
… but there is a complete TSHOOT topology build in dynamips/GNS3 out there (switches simulated with switch modules on routers).
The interfaces are different and also vlan config looks a bit different, but it’s better then nothing.
check ciscoguides.com under simulators/ciscoguides labs and there link exams lab in GNS3. u’d have to create a logon tho (hello mailinator).

very important: know the exam topology by heart… that includes interfaces, addresses (ip4 and ip6), areas, process IDs and ASs

tip: sketch the topology and all details down (on this nice laminated sheet u get) before you start the exam

a strategy would be wrong either.. like
    1) check ip assignment on client1
    2) if assigned
    if successful
    check R1
    if successful ….
    check ASW1 interface, trunks -> DSW1 ip helper-address on int VL10 -> dhcp server config on R4

    good luck!

    April 30th, 2011

i think by the type of the command mentioned in the choices of the MCQ question ,we can easily know the type of the ticket

    April 30th, 2011

Does the CCNP 642-832 TSHOOT exam ROUTERS and SWITCHES resets themselves, or do we have to logout of all DEVICES after each Trouble Ticket?

If you passed the exam and have something valuable to say, please say it or get off this forum, You are really wasting other people’s time. for example, Someone mention a new IPV6 TT and failed to speculate or give any info…………..
If you can answer a question or help. please do so. otherwise p*off
