Practice TSHOOT Tickets with Packet Tracer & EVE-NG

March 6th, 2019 in Guide Go to comments

Special thanks to Buddy who sent us these files. Please say thanks to him. Now you can practice most TSHOOT Tickets with Packet Tracer v6.1. Please download all the tickets in one file here: https://www.networktut.com/download/Cisco_PT_6_1_TSHOOT_Package.zip. All the guides were included in that file.

Note: Please use at least the final Packet Tracer v6.1 (STUDENT Release) or above to open them. Below is a screenshot of the pkt files:

 TSHOOT_Tickets_PT61.jpg

*********************
From Buddy:

Please notice: It’s mainly all the Packet Tracer TSHOOT L2 based trouble tickets, that needs to be reconfigured with STATIC IP addresses at the PC Clients by today

Thus when reconfiguring the two PC Clients with static IP addresses, please remember to also EXCLUDE the two Client IP addresses (.3 and .4) within the DHCP Pool at DHCP Server R4, at the same time.

****************************

Special thanks to Marcus for creating the TSHOOT topology with EVE-NG network emulator (currently this is one topology file with working configuration, not the tickets). You can download this file here: https://www.networktut.com/download/TShoot_300-135-TT_EVE-NG.zip. Below is screenshot of the EVE-NG file:

TSHOOT_Working_topology_EVE-NG.jpg

Note:
+ EVE-NG emulator must be installed to open this file.
+ This file uses these IOL images (but you may use other IOL images):
 – i86bi_LinuxL2-AdvEnterpriseK9-M_152_May_2018.bin
 – i86bi_LinuxL3-AdvEnterpriseK9-M2_157_3_May_2018.bin
+ Importing steps:
1. click ACTIONS/Import external labs
2. select target lab but don’t unzip it then import
3. BEFORE starting any nodes on ASW1,ASW2,DSW1,DSW2 select the Layer2 IOL image that is present in your eve.
4. click More actions/Start all nodes

    Aries pears,
    just put this code in a file and name it something.vbs. if you do as explained above it should work. tested it many times actually. i missed the # before and after #script for rendomiztion of files# but you dont need to put that in the file. anyway which type of error you get.

    strSourceFolder = “..\TSHOOT”
    strDestinationFolder = “..\TSHOOT\Random\”
    strFileNameToMatch = “pkt”

    Set objFSO = CreateObject(“Scripting.FileSystemObject”)
    Set objFolder = objFSO.GetFolder(strSourceFolder)

    intCount = 1
    For Each objFile In objFolder.Files
    strFileName = objFSO.GetFileName(objFile)

    If LCase(right(strFileName, 3)) = strFileNameToMatch Then
    x= int(Rnd()*1000)
    strNewFileName = strFileNameToMatch & x & “.pkt”
    objFSO.MoveFile objFile.Path, strDestinationFolder & strNewFileName
    intCount = intCount + 1
    End If
    Next

    anyway i put all packet tracer files and the script in the tshoot folder in my google drive. download and extract then run the script. link is below.

    If i can find them i need a place to store them
    I have already 1 (Ticket number 11) No answers are given in the GNS3 ticket. Bu you can solve the problem.

    January 22nd, 2019

    @Anonymous, I will do it on this week.
    Note, you need a good L2 IOL for this lab due of some etherchannel issues. For example:
    “Compiled Wed 04-Nov-15”

    Note well, Eve-NG is a Emulated Virtual Environment. It does not contain any images. You should take care about them.

    @Anonymous, unfortunatelly it’s not 100% ready yet. I hope finish it on this weekend.
    At this moment I created it and did all necessary settings. But it should be rechecked before posting. I have no time for it in weekdays.

    At this moment I can share pic only:

    Okay, now I think it looks well. You can download it and try in Eve-NG simulator. Please, use this link to download: https://ufile.io/iwktp

    Note, there is NO TICKETS yet, but just the full working topology. Anyone can check and test it and send me a feedback. The I will fix possible issue and create a new version with tickets inside. I don’t want to create a version with tickets until I get feedback from the community about the full topology.

    Note well, as I said before some features may not work properly on too old IOL images.

    @networktut, guys, I’m sorry. I’ve never exported a labs before because I did it for myself. Of course I have created configs too. And I didn’t know they weren’t in the exported file. Try this link:

    https ://ufile.io/7hmkn

    In the meantime, I’ll try to figure out how to export full topology WITH configs.

  28. Marcus
    February 2nd, 2019

    Okay, I’ve dealt with it. :)

    Download this file:
    https ://uploadfiles.io/slxgy

    It contains configs and topology.

    Then check appropriate IOL images you have. I have used these:
    0086e5f41971bf35428c216a0ee6aabf i86bi-linux-l2-adventerprisek9-15.2iron.bin
    e28b308c96df10d4fd78bcbe80fa684a L3-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M-15.2-2.15T.bin

    Importing steps:
    1. click ACTIONS/Import external labs
    2. select target lab but don’t unzip it then import
    3. click More actions/Start all nodes

    I imported this file to UNetLab (predecessor of the Eve-NG) and it works well.

  34. studyman
    February 4th, 2019

    @Marcus

    The topology works great but I’m having issues using the L3 image. I’ve gotten the correct one (md5 is a match) but it has no ether-channel functionality. Any idea?

    The L2 image works great with ether-channel.

  35. Marcus
    February 4th, 2019

    @studyman, and all others. Thanks you for your feedbacks. Here is a few clarifications below.

    1. This lab is not depends on L3 images. It depends on L2 images more.
    2. The compilation date is the only indicator of possible trouble-free of the image. I suggest to use L2 images from Nov 2015 at least or newest. Don’t care about L3 images so much. Also, you shouldn’t use the same L3 image I used because it’s really old.
    3. The ether-channel functionality it’s about L2. Make sure you use L2 images on all four *SWx devices and L3 images for all Rx devices, Frame-Relay hub and the ISP router. If you have images with the names I specified and import the lab all will be fine. But if you open the lab and doesn’t have images the Eve-NG will try to substitute absent image to something else from you have and you may got a mess. So, recheck it when you start working.
    4. The main problems is the vlan filtering and L3-etherchannel. I had solded first with the L2 image I posted above but I couldn’t totally solve the second between DSW1 and DSW2. Thus, I just avoid it. If you will see carefully you will notice a special port description in some place…
    5. There are some issues with PC emulators. If you are sure you did all right but nothing work just try to ping from other side or repeat the action. From example, the PC cannot get IP via DHCP from first attempt. Sometimes it cannot ping some other host but if you are trying the ‘trace’ to the same host it works and then ping works too. A lot of various annoying bugs there.

    P.S. Yes, a lot f nuances… But you should be familiar with it if you work with Eve-NG. Anyway, it is much more convenient than the Packet Tracer.

  36. Marcus
    February 4th, 2019

    Forgot to say main thing. You must use a L2 image if ou see a SWITCH icon. Doesn’t matter is there an L2 or an L3 switch! In other cases use L3 image. Very simple!

  37. studyman
    February 5th, 2019

    @Marcus

    Thank you so much man, I was using L3 for the DSW which was the problem. I didn’t have all the images ready before importing the lab which made me confused on which image to use on the distribution switches.

    What’s the issue with RIPng and Po12 between the dists? I can run both ipv4 and ipv6 on that etherchannel and enable ripng as well on l2-advententerprisek9-15.2d.

  38. Marcus
    February 5th, 2019

    @studyman, I’m not sure I can recall it properly.

    I think the problem was in that fact the IPv6 was on Po12 interface. In this case RIPng couldn’t recognize it and there was some strange bugs. Therefore I removed one interface from this L3 etherchannel and did IPv6 connectivity on two usual ethernet ports.

    Now you can see the ipv6 address 2026::3:1/122 is on Ethernet 1/1, NOT PortChannel 12. The same from other side. I couldn’t force it work on Po12.

  39. studyman
    February 5th, 2019

    @Marcus

    Thanks for clarifying. It seems to be working with the image I got, can ping the ipv6 adresses of DSW1 and 2 from R1. Also VLAN filtering works as well, just tried the configuration based on Ticket 6.

    (i86bi-linux-l2-adventerprisek9-15.2d.bin) = f16db44433beb3e8c828db5ddad1de8a

  40. Marcus
    February 5th, 2019

    @studyman, did you mean you have created L3 (exactly L3, not usual etherchannel) etherchannel, put IPv6 address on port-channel interface and RIPng worked well?

    Under “L3 etherchannel” I mean an etherchannel which contains ethernet interfaces with “no switchport” command inside.

  41. Anonymous
    February 5th, 2019

    @Marcus, yes that’s right.

    Et1/1 and Et1/2 on both DSW has “no switchport” and “channel-group 12 mode active” configured.
    Po12 on same switches has “no switchport”, “ip address 10.2.4.x 255.255.255.252” and “ipv6 address 2026::3:x/122” configured together with “ipv6 enable” and “ipv6 rip RIP_ZONE enable”.

    I haven’t discovered any RIPng bugs since the routes are redistributed all the way to R1.

  42. Marcus
    February 5th, 2019

    @studyman, thanks a lot for your information! I will try to recheck it on other L2 images.

    Do you have any vlan filtering issues with the image you have or all works perfect?

  43. studyman
    February 5th, 2019

    @Marcus, no problem with VLAN filtering. The ping stopped working when active, and worked again after removing the filter.

    I did see some issues with IPv6 after all. Pinging to DSW1 loopback from R1 works but pinging from R1 to DSW2 loopback crashes DSW1 which makes Ticket 16 hard to test.

  44. studyman
    February 5th, 2019

    @Marcus

    Tried again and now the ping does not crash the Switch. Kinda weird but that’s good news either way!

  45. Marc
    February 15th, 2019

    @Marcus

    Could you please send me a good upload link for the lab files. I have tried using the one you posted at the top of this page. The one you listed on Feb 2 won’t let me download. I may not need to. I have loaded the Eve-NG ova and configured it. I have imported your lab using the ip I assigned and logging in as admin. None of the routers or switches will start. If you know what I am doing wrong I would appreciate the help!

    I passed TSHOOT in 2016 and now expiring so have to take it again. I created PacketTracer and GNS3 labs for all the Tickets available in 2016 and worked all fine. I don’t know how much has TSHOOT exam changed since 2016 and will appreciate if anyone can advise of how much I need to update myself in order to take the exam again in May 19.
