Ticket 11 – Redistribution Route-map (a & b)

April 26th, 2018 in TSHOOT v2 Go to comments

On R4:
router eigrp 10
  redistribute ospf 1 route-map OSPF->EIGRP
  network 10.1.4.0 0.0.0.255
  network 10.1.10.0 0.0.0.255
  network 10.1.21.128 0.0.0.3
 default-metric 100000 100 100 1 1500
  no auto-summary
!
……
route-map OSPF_to_EIGRP deny 10
 match tag 90
route-map OSPF_to_EIGRP permit 20
  set tag 110

Ans1) R4
Ans2) IPv4 Route Redistribution
Ans3) Under the EIGRP process, delete the ‘redistribute ospf 1 route-map OSPF->EIGRP’ command and enter ‘redistribute ospf 1 route-map OSPF_to_EIGRP’ command.

Explanation for this ticket:

In this topology, we are doing mutual redistribution at multiple points (between OSPF and EIGRP on R4, DSW1 & DSW2), which is a very common cause of network problems, especially routing loops so you should use route-map to prevent redistributed routes from redistributing again into the original domain.

In this ticket, route-map is also used for this purpose. For example, the route-map “EIGRP->OSPF” is used to prevent any routes that have been redistributed into OSPF from redistributed again into EIGRP domain by tagging these routes with tag 90. These routes are prevented from redistributed again by route-map OSPF->EIGRP by denying any routes with tag 90 set.

    Verify OSPF routes on DSW1 are not being redistributed.

    @2ofy_cisco
    Here in the redistribution we are using route map to prevent routing loops. You must call/invoke the same route map (with the same name) the one you have created. The problem in this ticket is that they created the route map using ‘EIGRP->OSPF’ name but in redistribution command they mistyped it as ‘EIGRP_to_OSPF’. So its only a issue of writing the wrong name which is required to correct.

    What is the purpose of the route map in this exam? apply metric only to all routes that match the route map or something else more complicated?

    which routes should appear in the domain eigrp:

    D * EX 0.0.0.0 / 0 [170/770560] R3 put this route because totally NSSA
    D EX 10.1.1.8/30 [170/770560] is directly connected to R4

    networks of area 0 and 1 should not appear because totally NSSA area blocks OIA
    Please indicate whether I’m right

    right answer: under ospf process. change map name form OSPF-to-EIGRP to OSPF –> EIGRP..
    you have to verify it by show run…

    In my exam it was OSPF->EIGRP routemap named wrong OSPF_to_EIGRP..
    so guys be careful it can be EIGRP->OSPF and OSPF->EIGRP too..
    keep open eyes :)

    hello there,
    i just want to know which router process its actually redistribute. OSPF or EIGRP??

    the topic of this TT was says,
    On R4 in router eigrp:
    redistribute ospf 1 route-map EIGRP_to_OSPF

    which means the problem was on the EIGRP process… BUT then, @NP->SP->IE says,
    right answer: under ospf process. change map name form OSPF-to-EIGRP to OSPF –> EIGRP

    i just want to confirm what the problem really was, redistribute process itself or just the route-map’s NAME

    @Ayemkatro
    Point 1: R4 is configured for two route redistributions. i- To redistribute OSPF routes into EIGRP (under EIRGP process) ii-To redistribute EIGRP routes into OSPF (under OSPF process)
    Point 2: Route maps with the names EIGRP->OSPF and OSPF->EIGRP has been created to use with redistribution for avoiding routing loops.
    Point 3: While configuring route redistribution (Point 1) we should use the same route map names which we have created before. e.g. We must not use the name ‘EIGRP_to_OSPF’ while we have created with the name ‘EIGRP->OSPF’.
    So in above TT, problem is in Point 3, where they have mentioned a wrong route map name which has never been created.
    Hope it is clear now.

    Hi, I have a doubt, is not also needed to add a metric in redistribution?

    Its “prophet” not “profit” and its “Quran” not “Koran” you fool.

    @Administrator: please ask cisco guru to stop this as it is very annoying in all the posts. we are here to discuss the TT. so please do the needful pls… I hope the administrator of this site will do something about this.
    BTW thanks everybody for all your comments…. this site gives confidence to take the TSHOOT exam.

    @Naveed : Thanks for the invitation Naveed. I still have to do CCNP Switch & CCNP TSHOOT to be a CCNP. But in the mean time i will give my efforts to CCIE. A very good idea buddy :)

    Just curious. When your doing the TT’s, do you have to actually config the router or is it just select the right answer?

    Thanks in advance,
    CJ

    Hello to all of you, and my thank you to all for you for helping us study for the ccnp exams.
    Does anyone have gns3 .net files for the indivudual tickets (i.e. Ticket1 and the way to Ticket 12).
    Again thank you all.

    I also had OSPF->EIGRP, I think NetoworkTut just needs to correct the website.

    Additionally, The answers on the exam all had “_>” instead of “->” Which made me doubt my answer. Maybe it was a difference in fonts or something weird like that making it look like a “_”? I think it was just a mistake on Cisco’s Part.

    One last note. Sometimes EIGRP was mistyped to be EIGPR, which looked like a misconfiguration. but it turns out it didn’t matter because it was typed the same way consistently, so it still all matched up. Don’t let that one confuse you, it’s just there to make you doubt your answer.

    I think it should be ‘network 10.1.1.10 0.0.0.0 area 34’ under ‘router ospf 1’:
    ========
    router ospf 1
    network 10.1.1.8 0.0.0.0 area 34
    redistribute eigrp 10 subnets
    ========

    Correction, it should be ‘‘network 10.1.1.8 0.0.0.3 area 34′ under ‘router ospf 1′.

    In exam,
    I don’t find any mis configured access map name like EIGRP_to_OSPF.

    On R4 in router eigrp:
    router eigrp 10
    network 10.1.4.5 0.0.0.0
    no auto-summary
    redistribute ospf 1 metric 100 10 255 1 1500 route-map EIGRP_to_OSPF
    !
    router ospf 1
    network 10.1.1.8 0.0.0.0 area 34
    redistribute eigrp 10 subnets
    !

    route-map EIGRP->OSPF
    match ip address 1

    what will be a problem

  28. David
    December 27th, 2010

    @kumar,

    Was there any typo in the config enter by you?

    under ‘router eigrp 10’, the name of route-map was ‘EIGRP_to_OSPF’.

    but there is no ‘EIGRP_to_OSPF’ defined. The only name of route-map defined is ‘EIGRP->OSPF’

    If this is the case, need to change name of the route-map.

    @networktut
    you are really doing great job, I would also suggest there should be a forum like this for CCIP BGP, MPLS, QOS
